Union Health is thrilled to sponsor the health care booth at Junior Achievement of the Wabash Valley’s JA BizTown and JA Finance Park contributing to an initiative that equips young people with real-world skills and knowledge.

“Health care is a vital part of our community. By sponsoring this booth, we hope to inspire the next generation of health care professionals and leaders,” Jim Schrader, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer at Union Health, said. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s doctors, nurses, medical researchers and health care innovators. It is crucial that they understand not only the importance of medical services but also the broader impact health care has on the well-being of society.”

At Union Health, we believe education is the foundation for a strong and healthy future. Supporting JA BizTown allows us to help students see the many opportunities available in health care—from clinical roles to administrative and leadership positions.

Within the Union Health space, fourth through sixth grade students will develop foundational skills including banking, citizenship, business management and economics, while their older counterparts in seventh through 12th grade will make personal finance decisions, evaluate risk management and budgeting.

Students “working” at JA BizTown-Union Health will hold positions of CEO, CFO, Physical Therapist, Medical Assistant, Registered Nurse and Doctor. Executive duties will include obtaining bank loans, signing payroll checks and preparing profit/loss reports while clinical roles will work directly with patients, keeping records and providing citizens information about health and fitness issues.

The health care industry requires teamwork, critical thinking and compassion. These are skills every student can begin developing here today.

“We hope to inspire our young participants that anything is possible and no matter where life takes them, they are equipped with skills and knowledge they can rely on,” Schrader said

JA BizTown is inspirational. The community support of the initiative illustrates how the Wabash Valley stands behind its students. Union Health is deeply committed to making a positive difference in our community, and we believe that programs like JA BizTown are key to empowering young people to succeed in any field they choose. We look forward to seeing the amazing things these students will accomplish.

Healthier, together.
