Union Health has officially partnered with Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine to expand its neurosurgical services right here in the Wabash Valley.
Union Health President and CEO Steve Holman and Dr. Jean-Pierre Mobasser, President of Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine jointly signed the agreement on Tuesday afternoon during a formal ceremony.
Many Union Health associates, along with the local media, turned out to witness the signing.
Rebecca Lynch, Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and General Surgeon at Union Health says the goal of the new partnership is to provide cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment to patients with complex neurological issues—all while staying closer to home.
“We want it to be very comprehensive. We want it to be seamless,” Dr. Lynch said. “Now with Goodman Campbell, we can bring a lot of their protocols, their pathways, their knowledge, their research here to Terre Haute so that we can keep some of those patients here.”
Dr. Jean-Pierre Mobasser, Neurosurgeon and President of Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine, says this partnership is vital to ensuring the needs of neurology patients are met.
"We’re going to work with their existing neurosurgeons here because there are some things that can be done locally, but there are other things that need a referral to a quaternary referral center, a specialized center for some of the complex neurosurgical problems that exist," Dr. Mobasser said. "We’ll be able to help triage these patients and make sure we can keep the people who can be managed safely here and have a streamlined pathway for patients who need to be transferred to a subspecialized center."
Goodman Campbell was established more than five decades ago and is now one of North America’s largest and most progressive neurosurgical practices. Their expertise includes a full spectrum of adult and pediatric brain, spine, and nerve care.
