Visitor Restrictions Enacted in NICU as Respiratory Cases Continue to Rise
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Terre Haute, Ind.) – Due to a spike in respiratory viruses such as influenza, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection (RSV) in and around the Wabash Valley, Union Health is now restricting visitation in its NICU.
Effective immediately, NICU visitation is restricted to parents and grandparents ONLY. Anyone in the NICU, visitor or employee, must wear a mask.
Visitation restrictions implemented in January for Union Hospital Terre Haute and Union Hospital Clinton remain in place.
Those restrictions include:
- Visiting hours will be from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Visitors must be 18 years of age or older
- Number of visitors will be limited depending on the area of the hospital
As a reminder, self-screening is required by all visitors and employees. For the safety of our patients, any visitor or employee experiencing any respiratory symptoms should not enter any Union Health facility, unless seeking medical treatment.
Patients experiencing respiratory illness MUST wear a mask upon presentation to any Union Health facility.
As respiratory illness cases surge, Union Health encourages community members to take precautions by practicing good hand hygiene, masking up, and seeking emergency medical care if experiencing severe symptoms, especially for high-risk individuals such as young children, older adults and those with chronic health conditions.
Union Health reminds patients, when possible, to utilize their primary care provider first. Convenient Care is also an option for minor illness or injury. Emergency Services are best for life-threatening illnesses or injuries.
