Union Health adopts the latest advancement in surgical technology - the da Vinci 5 surgical robot. This state-of-the-art system in minimally invasive surgery reiterates Union Health’s mission of providing patients with compassionate health care of the highest quality.

The da Vinci 5 by Intuitive is designed to aid surgical precision, with more than 150 new enhancements to support surgeon autonomy and care team efficiency. This system enables surgeons to feel more and see more during procedures, with a next-generation 3D display and image processing.

The surgical robotic system is used for minimally invasive surgical procedures for urologic, gynecologic, thoracic, colorectal, bariatric and general surgeries. Patient benefits may include reduced trauma to the body, shorter hospital stays, reduced blood loss, less postoperative pain and discomfort, less risk of infection and less scarring.

Union Health is the only hospital in the state of Indiana to implement this high-tech robotic system. In fact, only 400 of the da Vinci 5’s will be available health care organizations across the globe.

The da Vinci 5 robotic system has been successfully installed at Union Health. Training will begin soon, and the first case is slated for July 25.

Union Health also has the da Vinci Xi, which will remain in operation as it has for the last decade.

Healthier, together.
