In 2004, George W. Bush was president, the SARS outbreak began was wrapping up and Union Hospital earned its first vascular testing accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to providing the best in vascular testing and care remains the same.

That’s why, after 20 years, we’re proud to achieve the Bronze Milestone Award for maintaining continuous IAC accreditation.

“Celebrating 20 years of IAC accreditation is a reflection of our team's hard work and commitment to quality care," Union Hospital Cardiologist Krishna Namburi, said. "This achievement reinforces our mission to provide the highest standards in cardiovascular testing for our patients.”

“I believe this recognition truly reflects our team's dedication to maintaining the highest standards in our mission of providing compassionate, top-quality care,” Stephanie Laws, Vice President & Administrator of Union Hospital Clinton, said.

Vascular testing procedures enable early detection of life-threatening heart disorders, stroke and other diseases. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, one person dies every 33 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease – disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Stroke, a disorder of the blood supply to the brain, is a leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the country, with nearly 800,000 strokes occurring annually.

The last three years, Union Health cardiovascular technicians have performed an average of 9,823 vascular tests each year, showcasing our commitment to providing high-quality cardiac care and advanced diagnostic services to our community.

Several studies have been published demonstrating the impact of IAC accreditation on patient care. Specific to vascular testing, research indicates that accreditation identifies areas for improvement through a peer review process, resulting in increased quality of images and interpretation through standardized reporting and quality improvement programs. Facilities that achieve IAC accreditation demonstrate a clear indicator that they provide a high-quality level of patient care.

Healthier, together.
