Union Hospital’s Imaging Services Educator, Meghan Whittaker, was nominated for the Patient Safety, Service and Leadership award from the Indiana Hospital Association. Meghan was nominated for the state-wide award because of her work with the Union Hospital Safety Team and her focus on making the hospital, and its employees, safer. One of the programs she helped launch brought Safety Coaches and Employee Health to departments to lead stretches before shifts, leading to a reduction in employee injuries.

Meghan also secured grants that provided transport chairs and an MRI-safe stretcher for orderlies to use. The new ergonomic equipment improves the posture of the orderlies and reduces the risk for back injuries as they move patients.

Meghan also leads the annual Safety Fair and the Safety Newsletter.
