Pediatric therapy, serving Wabash Valley children since 1987, focuses on a team approach to benefit the whole child. Pediatric therapy provides occupational, physical, and speech therapy to children from birth to adolescence. The multi-disciplinary team, which includes the child as well as the family, provides a comprehensive evaluation and develops treatment plans to allow children to function independently in their world.
Professionals at the clinic communicate regularly with physicians and other team members as to the child's progress. Various diagnoses treated at Union Hospital Therapy Pediatrics include, but are not limited to:
- Autism
- Cerebral Palsy
- Head Injury
- Spina Bifida
- Down Syndrome
- Hearing Impairment
- Congenital Abnormalities
- Hydrocephalus
- Meningitis/Encephalitis
- Developmental Delays
- Orthopedic Problems
- Oral Motor Dysfunctions
- Learning Disabilities
- Prematurity
- Swallowing/Feeding Issues
- Sensory Integration and Dysfunction

The equipment and resources available at Union Hospital Therapy Pediatrics make the therapy center the least restrictive environment for many children. Adaptive equipment for ambulation and positioning is readily available in multiple sizes. Frequently a device is used in therapy on a trial basis before a recommendation is made to purchase one for home use. This can save time and expense for families. A sensory integration room, a well-equipped gym, and private treatment areas give children the opportunity to receive intervention at the appropriate level.
