Hepatitis B Birth Dose Honor Roll

Union Hospital is recognized for its exceptional efforts in protecting infants from perinatal hepatitis B transmission. The birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine is critical to safeguarding all infants from hepatitis B virus infection which can lead to chronic liver disease.

  • In 2013, Union Hospital reported a coverage rate of 100%
  • In 2014 and 2015, the coverage rate dropped to 93%, but still within the achievement goal range of 90%.
  • In 2016, the birth dose coverage rate rose to 94%.
  • In 2022, the hepatitis B birth dose coverage rate was back up to 100%.

Union Hospital currently joins 578 other birthing institutions on the Hepatitis B Birth Dose Honor Roll across the country. In July 2013, the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC) launched the Hepatitis B Birth Dose Honor Roll. The Honor Roll recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that have attained high coverage rates for administering the hepatitis B vaccine at birth.

Sibling Patient ID Bands

Sometimes it's hard being the older sibling when a new baby arrives. Here at Union Hospital, we focus on family-centered care, and we want to ensure all siblings feel extra special when they meet their new baby brother or baby sister for the first time. All new big brothers and big sisters will receive a special ID bracelet to help include them in welcoming a new baby to the family!

Healthier, together.
